The B.S curriculum is intended to provide students with a solid background for careers in planning, design, construction, and engineering management. Students acquire a common base of knowledge in the engineering sciences, including engineering mechanics, structural engineering, hydraulic engineering, construction management, transportation and traffic engineering, and geotechnical engineering. Engineering mechanics deals with the mechanics of engineering materials and structures and focuses on calculation of stress, strain and deformations. Structural engineering deals with the analysis and design of structures of all types such as buildings, bridges and dams. Hydraulic engineering studies the mechanics of fluids, hydrology and water resources. Construction management focuses on construction planning, scheduling, design of construction operations and design-construction ıntegration. Transportation and traffic engineering acomplishes planning, designing, constructing and operation of transportation systems. Understanding the behavior of soils and rocks, design and construction of highways, mines, foundations, harbour and dock facilities are covered by geotechnical engineering field. Curriculum Outline
